Introductions
Hi there! It’s me, Elizabeth. I asked Andrew if I could be the embedded blogger for the Seattle startup weekend and he said YES! I look forward to meeting each of you and am VERY CURIOUS what the weekend will bring.
If you’re reading this, and you’re GOING (you have a ticket, are planning to show up etc.) can you leave a comment here to introduce yourself?
Here’s mine:
I found out about Startup Weekend from the Meet at the Pig site that my friend Justin runs. I’ve been active in the ad-hoc tech community in the Seattle ara since 2003 or so, attending Ignite and MindCamp and other unconference type events. I’ve been blogging since 2003, and have been a program manager since leaving games in 1995. Right now my day job is at Microsoft. My “role” at Startup Weekend is currently backend developer, because I’ll be least qualified for that, and either I’ll learn something or will be able to focus on blogging and telling the story of the event. I’m bringing 2 ideas, a laptop with Django installed, and hopefully a good attitude. I’m looking forward to the adventure!
Please leave your intro in the comments!
I’m sure like everyone else here, I’m excited to see what the weekend will bring for all of us here in Seattle. My name is Jon Wiggs and I’ll be coming to the weekend from Jott where I am currently the Sr. Engineer working on the architecture and development of our speech recognition and related analytics systems. Like Elizabeth I’ll be there with my laptop and a gallon of vitamin water; ready to go!
My name is right up there. I too am excited. As soon as I read, “jazz for entrepreneurs” I was sold.
I found out about Startup Weekend from a friend who attended the Boulder event. The attitude and potential was too much to pass up.
I’m a software engineer who just moved into the Seattle region and started at Microsoft. I’ll be there with a laptop, a host of ideas, and enthusiasm.
Let’s make something great!
I’m really excited about the upcoming weekend. I am a recent graduate of the Computing and Software Systems program at the University of Washington, Tacoma. Previously I was in an information security policy role for a regional Visa/MasterCard acquiring institution. In that role I worked with many small to medium sized online retailers. I pursued the CSS degree at UWT as a way to transition into more technical roles. I am currently employed as a Senior Consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton in Seattle. I am also the current primary organizer of the Tacoma Linux Users Group (Taclug).
I’m looking forward to meeting new people, learning new skills and making something cool.
This is going to be a great weekend! T-Minus 32 hours and counting!
Kimm Viebrock here. I’ve been watching Startup Weekends happening all over the globe, ever since Boulder last July. Sure sounds like a lot of fun and I figured we just HAD to do it here!
I’m totally looking forward to meeting everyone and doing some cool work together.
I’m really excited about this weekend! Looking forward to meeting a bunch of great people and working as a team to create something wonderful / inspiring / useful / etc.
I’ve been developing websites for 10 years and am currently building Tourvista, a virtual tour platform for marketing real estate.
See you all tomorrow!
Matt
Adam Philipp here. I’m excited to see what ideas are fostered in such an intense weekend. I head up the patent team at AXIOS Law Group and have a background in computer science.
I have been involved in the entrepreneurial space here in Seattle for a while, but I have yet to see anything as intense as this!
See you Tonight!
- Adam
I’m the CEO of a scrappy little startup, Transmutable, which is bringing social 3D spaces onto the web.
Previously I was on the research staff at Xerox PARC’s CS lab, a server monkey at i-drive (during the boom), and a browser engineer at Be, Inc.
Let’s make Seattle’s startup the best yet!
I’m excited to meet all of you and see what we come up with!
